Our Equestrian Centre is the beating heart of Shardeloes Farm. We’ve been welcoming riders of every level and discipline since the 1990s, helping each and every one to realise their unique goals and ambitions. We’re proud to have evolved over the years to become one of the best riding schools in the Chilterns. Meet Tigger
Tigger, our mechanical horse, is a firm favourite here at Shardeloes Farm, particularly amongst our eventing and pro riders. He may not be a real horse, but he is one of the most technologically-advanced equestrian simulators on the market. Tigger offers high-level Grand Prix dressage movements, including piaffe and passage, half pass and pirouettes, as well as jumping grid work and technical combinations on the cross-country course.
Thanks to his cutting-edge motion control technology, Tigger can replicate jumps of up to 1.20m high, moving in a realistic and bespoke way for an enhanced experience that actively improves rider ability at every level.

Treadmill & Spa
Our therapy centre assists in promoting health and wellbeing whilst aiding in the prevention and rehabilitation of injuries. The unit compromises of an Activo-Med Water Treadmill with optional incline, a solarium and an Activo-med Salt Water Spa with optional vibrating floor.
Our professional and dedicated team welcome horses from all backgrounds and levels. As well as facilities for the horses, our centre provides an optional viewing room with refreshments and free Wi-Fi for you to utilise while you wait.

Thanks to our stunning location and excellent links we’ve rapidly gained a strong track record for providing the perfect backdrop for some of the biggest feature films and television productions of recent times. London is just up the road, Pinewood and Leavesden Studios are on our doorstep, and we have an ideal unit base servicing picturesque Old Amersham and the surrounding area. Estate Reception
This is the estate’s hub, where all phone calls and enquiries are answered. A list of clients and horses is displayed daily and refreshments can be purchased, including snacks and Bean To Cup Coffee. A log burner and comfy sofa keep visitors cosy on winter days, while Wi-fi is accessible throughout – it’s also home to Tigger, our mechanical horse.

Indoor Arena
The surface here is sand on fibre. Friends and family can watch lessons from the seated gallery, while the mirror allows riders to check and adjust their riding position as necessary.

Stables for liveries are housed here. Each yard has a supervisor and a diary where daily instructions are written.

Our 60kVA generator is located here in our Equestrian Centre car park. Clients can charge their car while having a riding lesson or watching family or friends. Those passing by who need to charge their vehicles can also use it.

Hydro Yard
Our staff horses are stabled here, and there is also a tack room, feed room and hay and straw barn inside.

Hacking
Our routes offer over 550 acres of off-road hacking through woodland, tracks in open fields and hills. There’s plenty of diversity and the opportunity to spot an abundance of wildlife, including deer, rabbits and pheasants. We offer unrivalled peaceful, beautiful views across the Chiltern Hills and diverse areas to hack over the estate.

Barrel Seating (Golden Circle Film)
This novel breakout area was used in a film and is now a popular place to sit and relax. The table and chairs inside provide a comfortable space to sit and enjoy a drink while you wait.

Shepherd’s Hut
Located in beautiful woodland, the Shepherd’s Hut provides a quiet space immersed in nature. This cosy accommodation comprises a bed, shower, toilet, kitchen and a small log burner. A popular weekend retreat, it is often rented out during the week and is listed on Airbnb.

Cross Country Water Complex
This substantial water complex is a popular part of our cross country course and comprises two jumps on either side and a drop in and out through the water. Occasionally, we hire it out for private bookings.

Our 4.5-mile cross country course was designed by Andrew Hunter and includes 39 steps (jumps). We have recently added a junior cross country course with smaller jumps. The course can be hired out for £25 per horse. And we also hold monthly clinics.
